Deck Railing: Understanding Your Options
Railing is the finishing touch on a deck that can frame the aesthetic of the entire deck or even the whole outdoor space. This means picking the right railing for your deck is just as important as the right decking material. There is a world of options for decking finishes meaning it can be a confusing process finding the right one for you. That’s why we have this page to break down some of the most common railing types.

Enhance Steel is one Trex’s newest products, it debuted at the start of 2025 as a new entry level price point while still having a 15 year warranty from Trex. Don’t let the price point fool you the enhance steel is a very heavy duty railing.
The Enhance Steel comes in a charcoal black only and while it is lacking on the customization front it matches virtually any home and deck color combination. The ideal customer for a product like this would be someone looking to get railing on potentially a large deck in need of a lot of railing that does not mind the lack of customization options in exchange for the cost being kept low comapred to other Trex railing optionsE

The select aluminum railing serves as a direct upgrade from the Enhance Steel as it shares the same balusters and general look but comes with a 25 year warranty compared to the Steel’s 15. Its use cases would be the same as the Steel but for someone less limited or concerned about budgeting for the railings with their deck project.
